Georgia Nicole, the British heavy rock singer-songwriter returns swinging, with her new single “Too Alive." In her first release since last April’s “Game You Play," a brash, emotionally forthright comeback that feels less like a reintroduction than the letting off of steam from a long-sealed release valve.
“Too Alive” is a song about making it through the noise in your own head. Georgia seems not to mince the message or obscure it with metaphor for long, there’s a quality to the track that makes it feel like it has been lived-in, tracks and all, every lyric having already been road-tested in the real world before snaking its way back into the studio. Her voice is equal parts determination and exposure, holding together heavy rock intensity with a decidedly human ache.
Co-written by Georgia and produced by Guy Paige, the track is an indicator of what’s to come from her debut EP A "Little Bit Of It All. If “Too Alive” is any indication, the project sounds like it will match the implications of its title, mixing emotional honesty and heavy-laden instrumentals with moments of peaceful rumination that cut just as forcefully as their louder counterparts.
"Too Alive" does not beg for permission or sympathy, it offers connection. It is a massive rock anthem for anyone who has very felt carried away, unheard or on the brink, and it is evidence that Georgia Nicole is staking her claim with honesty, volume and heart.
