Malu Pierini comes out with her latest release “Pourquoi”

Danish-Corsican singer-songwriter Malu Pierini releases a new song "Pourquoi." The song opens like a family secret murmured in passing, based on the real-life story of Pierini’s own grandmother, a young dancer who made her way to Paris in pursuit of art, romance, possibility, only to find that the dream she sought was much more tangled than she had ever expected.

"Pourquoi" is a song of love freely given but not always reciprocated equally. Pierini sings from somewhere that’s extremely intimate and hauntingly familiar, letting her grandmother’s experience  into her own. There is the weight of longing, the silent questions that never get answered and also a psychological cost to loving, or trying to love, as much as you can.

What separates "Pourquoi" from a love story is the thought of how small decisions pass through time, shaping lives in ways that we don’t understand until long after reality. Written by Amalie Bryde, J.Ar. J, Marie-Louise Pierini Lüders and Nicholas Kincaid, and co-writted and produced by Nicholas alongside Oliver Kincaid, the track has an personal yet wide feel. "Pourquoi" makes the listener to simply sit with the question "why," and maybe identify a chapter of their own story within.
