Katelyn Tarver turns chaos into clarity on “So Am I”

Katelyn Tarver, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and actress has released new music to her new track “So Am I” comes like a deep breath in the middle of a life pivot, unsteady, brave and quietly powerful. about to release her third studio album, “Tell Me How You Really Feel,” Tarver has only strengthened what she calls the gift of turning emotional ambivalence into something that can feel grounding and communal.

“So Am I” is driven by the push-pull between fear and freedom. Instead of seeking certainty, the song revels in the rush of not having it all figured out. It’s about choosing yourself even when the way forward is unclear, and about finding strength in surrendering to whatever happens after that. That too is a theme that infuses this track with restless, but here also empowering, energy that embodies the emotional dislocation that often accompanies real growth.

Co-written with Chad Copelin and Riley Biederer, the song is imbued with the intimacy of tried-and-true teamwork. There’s a feeling of emotional safety in the writing, with vulnerability and strength coexisting without canceling each other out. Mikey Reaves’s production remains focused on feeling rather than excess, allowing the song to develop more organically rather than forcing a big moment.

“So Am I” grants permission, to be available, and to move forward despite that. It’s a bold leap into the unknown, and an enticing peep behind the curtain of the emotional landscape Tarver is shaping on her forthcoming record.
