J.MYSTERY delivers a stirring wake-up call with “Change”

The Portuguese singer-songwriter J.MYSTERY is kicking off 2026 with an audacious new single, "Change," a track that balances sweeping musical ambition with deeply personal reflection. Penned and laid down at his home studio before being granted new life by longtime collaborator Francisco Reis or Francisco, the cut is J.MYSTERY's most collaborative piece to date, uniting Gonçalo Salta (drums), Miguel Campos (piano), Luis Correia (bass), Andrés Malta (guitar), IAN, Ana Ribeiro and Mateusz Stasto (violins) and Nikolai Gimaletdinov (cello).

"Change" addresses the state of the world with urgency. The song wrestles with the burden of silence and inaction, touching on themes of responsibility, awareness, and moral agency. At its center is a provocative question that asks, If you know you can make a difference, how do you reconcile with staying quiet? This line cuts to the song's emotional heart, demanding listeners question their own behavior in shaping their world.

Musically, the song is a careful balance of energy and restraint. The strings slither around the rhythm section, extending tension and release, the piano and guitar melt softly into the song's contemplative temperament. Every musician's contribution feels intentional, filling without inflating the clarity that makes J.MYSTERY's music compelling. "Change" is an inspired way to start the year, a single that challenges its audience to stop, consider, and act.
