Harry Styles opens the lens on new era with "Aperture’”

Harry Styles is officially back in the game, and one of the first glimpses into his next chapter arrives with a single called “Aperture,” which teases a brash evolution from the guitar-pop that he dominated on Harry’s House. Debuting on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James, the track serves as an instant reminder that Styles is unafraid of pursuing new musical horizons while never straying too far from what makes him so charming and endearing.

“Aperture” Produced by Kid Harpoon, who also led the sound of Harry’s House, showcases a natural chemistry between artist and producer. The production is immaculate but natural flowing, and swings from clean instruments to dimly lit corners which allow you into the song. The vocals are performed with beam bursting emotion that take the lush sonic soundscape for a magical tour.

A lead single from his forthcoming fourth studio album, "Kiss All The Time," “Aperture” is a strong indicator of what to expect. The expectations are lofty for the former One Direction member, whose self-titled sophomore release contains 12 tracks and is his first in four years. There should be no drop-off in the depth of artistry which earned him multiple Grammys across 2023, but there will be a greater degree of exploration and polishing.

“Aperture” sees Harry Styles expose his ability to create great pop moments and maybe even a little bit of appetite for boundary-pushing, progression. The single that achieves simultaneous intimacy and grandeur, giving us a glimpse of what should prove to be an exciting new phase of his career. For his part, Styles reaffirms that his creative lens remains as fine-tuned and transfixing as ever.
