Gee Whiz, Bologna-based newcomers have been subtly carving out a lane that feels wild, makes this joy hard to quash on their new release,
“Big Fireworks." There’s something immediately hunky dory about a band that sounds like they’re having the time of their lives, on their new release, “Big Fireworks,” they’re not just leaning into that identity, they’re letting it explode.
“Big Fireworks,” feeds off its constant energy, in capturing the feel of a celebration that goes off the rails. It's a song where energy is more important than pulling in the sharp edges and reining in too much.
Gee Whiz, is though, plausible. There is no feeling of forced experimentation, just a band going with their instincts and having the most fun in the world doing so. All of that authenticity seeps into every second of the track, making it feel less like a performance and more like an invitation.
