Block continues to build momentum slowly, revealing his upcoming album "Love Crash", "puzzle piece by puzzle piece", then new single “Over and Over”. This track is already itching to shove an extra few feet downwards, less about the struggle at face value and on toward the endless exhausting ones that never fully disappear.
“Over and Over” is a study in restraint. The instrumentation remains muted and shadowed, the sound sitting somewhere between an overcast evening in Upstate New York and an NBC sitcom set years after the series finale aired. Block embraces the silence and monotony of that cherished vacuum. The air itself gets to reflect a sensation of mental loops at the track’s core.
“Over and Over” exudes openness. There’s an unfiltered, honesty to it that makes you feel like the song wasn’t carefully constructed as much as one raw outpouring of emotion and creativity. “Over and Over” is an indication of an album that’s not afraid to reside in unease or wrestle with extremely personal realities.
