Howling Bells makes a return with a new single “Melbourne"

Howling Bells, London-based Australian indie rock act, makes a return with a new single “Melbourne.” With Juanita Stein’s raw vocals leading the charge, Joel Stein on guitar, and Glenn Moule on drums, the band is giving us a record about longing, displacement, and a particular kind of loss that sneaks in when home is too far away to touch. Howling Bells take a different direction, reflecting pain that becomes something delicate, raw and quietly beautiful.

“Melbourne” is about leaving behind family, familiarity, and emotional safety to pursue something new. It captures that space between who you were and who you’re trying to become, a space made heavier when trauma is involved. “Melbourne” is about paying attention to pain, just because you move on geographically doesn’t mean it goes away, If anything, distance clarifies the pain.

“Melbourne” is about confronting mistakes and emotional injuries, else they decay beneath the surface, never going away. On “Melbourne,” Howling Bells reminds us that grief and hope are not weaknesses, they’re fountain of truth. The band transforms emotional burden into art, making the case, that often the most effective music is simply a feeling all of what you’ve been carrying inside.
